It’s been said that anyone who’s over 50 has some form of back pain, but what can you do when it’s your spouse who’s suffering?

You and your spouse have been married for years, and time is now taking its toll on your spouse in the form of back pain. However, rather than do anything about it, your spouse has used it as an excuse not to help around the house, preferring instead to sit and watch television. So, you need ideas on how to deal with your spouse and your spouse’s chronic back pain.

About Chronic Back Pain

Is your spouse the kind of person who used to be active in their youth? If so, chances are that they would be active without properly warming up first. It might seem silly to do that every time before a walk or whatever activity that is to be planned, but it can make all the difference later on, especially when it comes to back pain.

The next thing that you need to consider is how up to date your spouse is on their medical examinations. Sometimes chronic back pain is caused by an underlying medical condition that should be checked. If you suspect this is the case, be sure to confront your spouse and tell your spouse that they had better go see a doctor if they want to get rid of that chronic back pain.

Really, it all has to do with the situation when it comes to figuring out how to deal with your spouse. Is your spouse the kind of person who is very independent and cannot be given advice? Or, is your spouse just the kind of person who sits complaining because your spouse does not know what to do about the back pain?

If your spouse is in the first category, you really cannot do anything but give your spouse some space and let them make their own conclusions about the back pain. If your spouse is in the second category, you might be able to convince them that some ways to alleviate the back pain can actually be fun ones.

For example, you could make a romantic getaway out of it and make reservations at a couples spa. There, you two can get massages, and relax in the Jacuzzi, both of which can be very beneficial for back pain.
